SJ Kids’ Socials hold events throughout the year for young girls, ranging from the ages of 6 to 16. Some events we have held in the past have included: Unicorn themed Porcelain Painting Workshop, Lantern making Workshop, a Movie Night, as well as Muharram Workshops and the Annual Ramadhan Sleepover, which is always a huge hit. The aim of our events is to bring young girls together in the community spirit to take part in fun activities, be inspired by enlightening discussions, and the opportunity to build new friendships.

Paint the Day Away
28th August 2019
On Wednesday 28th August, SJ Cultural Activities hosted a painting session where ladies over 16 had the chance to paint one of two mosque canvasses . This session was led by Natatja, an artist who paints murals in schools across the globe.
Alhamdullilah we had a fantastic turnout of 29 budding artists. Natatja wanted to allow for creativity and individuality and so was not too directive in her approach to the painting session. As a result, all the finished pieces had an individual stamp and looked absolutely beautiful - fit for the Tate Modern!
Below are some testimonials from ladies who attended yesterday:
'My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the 'Paint the Day Away' class as the teacher taught us how to initially sketch the picture, mix colours and paint on the canvas. Her gentle manner and positive feedback further developed our confidence and skill. Additionally, the atmosphere and the other participants offered a fun and calming evening. I highly recommend this class and look forward to attend more in the future.'
'Thoroughly enjoyed this session with Natatja. It was calming and exhilarating at the same time. Calming because of the nature of the task and exhilarating because I created a unique masterpiece. This was the first time I painted a canvas and I am now inspired to paint some more. The session was brilliantly organised with all the resources provided in a well-set up environment amongst other friendly participants. Three hours well spent! Thank you SJ for organising the event and setting up such a lovely spread of snacks to munch on as we painted.'
'My mum and I enjoyed the class and relaxed atmosphere. Pleased with my painting of the sunset and would def paint again. R'
We look forward to hosting another 'Paint the Day Away' for our youth.
